Intelerad Medical Systems recently announced the launch of RendezVous, an integrated solution that combines Intelerad’s Teaching Files module with advanced study tagging functionality.

Enterprise imaging as a concept has been around for several years, but many organizations are just turning their full attention to it now, according to Jef Williams, managing partner at Paragon Consulting Partners. This is because other health information technology (IT) endeavors have taken precedence, including electronic medical records (EMRs) and Meaningful Use. Now, as enterprise imaging comes to the forefront, Williams and other speakers at the 2016 annual meeting of the Association for Medical Imaging Management (AHRA) discussed the importance of having an enterprise imaging strategy and how to implement it. 

Founded by a small group of radiologists in 1968, Radiology Imaging Associates P.C. has played a role in shaping the practice of radiology – both in its own community and around the world. Since its inception, RIA has been a pioneer in the use of technology. For example, in the late 1970s, it was the fifth organization in the U.S. to purchase a CT scanner. Twenty years later, it was one of the first radiology practices in the region to implement PACS and RIS systems, as well as virtual reading rooms, which enabled it to easily provide 24 hours/day, seven days/week coverage for the hospitals and physicians it serves.

The trend toward consolidation in the healthcare industry continues to climb, with U.S. hospital mergers and acquisitions at their highest since 1999.
