May 23, 2014 — Agilex announced it was awarded a competitive contract by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to develop and implement VA’s enterprise Web and mobile application image viewing solution. Agilex will build upon Calgary Scientific’s ResolutionMD viewer to provide VA clinicians nationally with secure, on-demand access to radiological images across a variety of mobile and desktop devices.

April 11, 2014 — Calgary Scientific Inc. announced their latest Class II clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Its enterprise image-viewing solution, ResolutionMD, is now cleared for diagnosis on mobile devices for all imaging modalities. This builds upon their previous clearances for diagnosis using web, iOS and Android devices.

Increasingly software applications are providing many of the major advancements in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) rather than hardware. In recent years, this has translated into software that enables physicians to do more in less time, extract more diagnostic information from imaging exams and provide more accurate quantification. While a hospital may not spend millions to upgrade its MRI system, it frequently takes advantage of the lower cost option of other vendors’ software to assess and manipulate those images.
