ResolutionMD, enterprise viewing solution

October 24, 2013 – Calgary Scientific Inc. announced that in partnership with Siemens Healthcare, they have begun rolling out ResolutionMD at Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Intermountain Healthcare, the largest provider in the Intermountain West is recognized globally for being at the forefront of adopting leading-edge technology to provide excellence in the efficient and effective delivery of medical care.  To continue in their pursuit, the IT organization set out to make images easily accessible to over 10,000 practitioners, external referring physicians and other occasional users.  With an IT environment that included multiple vendor archives, combined with different viewers, it was difficult to access and share images across the dispersed organization.  After extensive research, Intermountain recognized ResolutionMD as the industry-leading enterprise viewing solution they required to connect their current archives and provide all clinicians fast, real-time access to patient images through one consistent and easy-to-use interface.

ResolutionMD was successfully integrated with the proprietary Intermountain EMR, as well as 9 data archive instances comprised of 7 PACS and 2 VNAs from a number of different vendors.  To date, a variety of clinicians have been granted new access to important functionality including multi-user collaboration, 3-D rendering and mobile access with diagnostic capability. When full rollout is completed, Intermountain will have one integrated enterprise viewer that leverages their current architecture and creates a virtual database system that eliminates the need to copy or move data across the archives.

“Simple, universal access to images across Intermountain Healthcare was the driving factor to move to an enterprise-wide viewer,” said Geoff Duke, director, Imaging Informatics at Intermountain Healthcare. “We wanted a solution that did not require any downloads, was fully secure, had the proper FDA clearances for diagnosis, worked with our entire IT infrastructure, and met the speed and scalability requirements that are always at the top of our user lists. ResolutionMD and Siemens delivered all of these requirements while providing mobile capability that will allow us to easily roll-out better access of images to our staff.” ‘

“We were excited to provide Siemens with industry leading technology to meet Intermountain Healthcare’s needs,” said Byron Osing, CEO and Chair at Calgary Scientific. “Our goal is to provide OEM partners like Siemens advanced technology to solve the customer challenges they are seeing globally, including connecting disparate data sources and providing accredited web and mobile solutions.  ResolutionMD improves a physician’s confidence and decreases their time to diagnosis resulting in improved patient outcomes and significant cost savings to the system.”
