August 10, 2011 – Zotec Partners a provider of medical billing, practice management and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) software and services, announced that Medical Center Radiologists (MCR) out of Norfolk, Va., signed a five-year contract extension with the company to continue as its billing services provider. Since 2007, MCR has relied on Zotec Partners to combat rising costs and declining reimbursement, and has increased collections year-over-year.
“The original reason for engaging Zotec Partners was due to the combination of its service and software solutions,” said Ted Dorsay, DDS, M.D., president of MCR.
MCR has more than 55 years of experience in advanced radiology practice and has grown to become the dominant radiology group in Eastern Virginia. The practice has 42 board-certified radiologists and was first to introduce nuclear medicine scanning, angiography, computerized tomography (CT), ultrasonography, stone removal from the biliary tract, digital angiography, angioplasty, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography( PET)/CT in the service area.
Zotec Partners’ Decision Support data mining tool allows MCR to have a finger on the pulse of the practice. The group monitors its accounts receivables, denials, charges, payments, net collections and gross collections by location. Reimbursement for specific procedures, such as PICC lines or biopsies, is examined by carrier and contract. This allows the practice to renegotiate contracts with unfavorable payments for specific procedures and identify outliers in reimbursement.
Zotec Partners also created a patient portal to allow MCR’s patients to access their accounts, keep insurance information up to date, make credit card payments or set up time pay plans via the Internet.
“With the rapid growth of Health Savings Accounts—which make patients more accountable for their healthcare payments—online payment portals and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) phone systems are becoming an essential part of today’s revenue cycle management environment,” said Scott Law, president and CEO of Zotec Partners.
