This year’s Centennial Showcase will add exhibits on brain research, artificial intelligence and other advanced topics

RSNA 2015, future of radiology, Centennial Showcase

November 11, 2015 — The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) will wrap up its year-long centennial celebration at its 101st annual meeting and scientific assembly, Nov. 29 – Dec. 4 in Chicago, with a glimpse of radiology’s future on exhibit in the popular RSNA Centennial Showcase.

A free-flowing interactive exhibit that will interweave the contributions of RSNA with the latest developments in radiologic science and technology, the RSNA Centennial Showcase will give visitors an opportunity to explore radiology’s newest achievements.

“Last year, the RSNA Centennial Showcase featured historic science, education and technology intertwined with a walk through RSNA’s rich history,” said Ronald L. Arenson, M.D., 2015 RSNA president. “This year, our meeting theme is ‘Innovation is the Key to our Future,’ and we turn our gaze forward with new exhibits highlighting the future of medical imaging.”

The RSNA Centennial Showcase will include “Our Milestones,” where RSNA’s defining moments are presented in a multimedia presentation; “Cases of the Future,” which will inspire attendees to conceptualize radiology’s future possibilities; “Art & Science,” a collection of artistically rendered medical images; “Roentgen’s Welcome,” featuring a virtual incarnation of the father of radiology; and the “Centennial Galleries,” focusing on RSNA’s defining principles: community, education, research, innovation and patient care.

New this year are exhibits on brain research, artificial intelligence, optical imaging, virtual reality, 3-D printing and personalized medicine.

Offerings outside the annual meeting include a centennial website with an interactive radiology timeline, as well as an image contest. The website will also feature digital highlights from the Centennial Showcase.

The 2015 RSNA Centennial Showcase is sponsored by McKesson.
