February 25, 2008 – Introduced today at HIMSS 2008, McKesson’s Patient Care Advantage solution offers a fully electronic medication reconciliation solution that is accompanied by a comprehensive set of medication safety analytics, and includes new advanced dosing capabilities developed by McKesson and Duke University Health System.
Advanced dosing is designed to increase the accuracy of medication prescribing for complex, high-risk patients by providing patient-specific recommendations along with dose calculators and rounding algorithms tailored to the indication for the medication.
Designed for enhanced decision support, Patient Care Advantage also includes online InterQual criteria, a solution for medical appropriateness used by more than half of the nation’s hospitals, according to the company. Created to enhance safety, the solution has three new perinatal care risk reduction modules that reportedly give a proactive, preventive approach to identifying obstetrics patients at risk.
