March 25, 2008 - Ochsner Health System of New Orleans will enhance patient safety and improve workflow throughout its perioperative (surgical) process with technology from DocuSys Inc.
"With the acquisition and implementation of DocuSys, Ochsner will strategically focus on enhancing anesthesia medication management and dispensation, and anesthesia medication inventory, with the aim of creating a superior anesthesia record," said Mark French, vice president of surgical services at Ochsner Health System.
DocuSys solutions will address every phase of surgery from presurgical care to post anesthesia care and will be installed in 28 operating rooms and 15 other anesthetizing locations at Ochsner Medical Center, and the Ochsner-Merrill Hines Surgery Center located in New Orleans.
Solutions specifically selected by Ochsner for their surgical arena include a Web-based, patient-driven health survey application, HealthQuestionnaire, used for collecting a patient's health history prior to surgery and PreOpPlanner, used by the care team to identify the patient's surgical risk and produce instructions and testing requirements for the patient prior to surgery; a coding module for documenting comorbid conditions (existing illnesses) and capturing professional fees; the AIMS application, which produces an electronic medical record of the anesthetic case; and DocuSys' point-of-care medication management application, DocuJect, providing a decision support feature that precisely documents medications administered.
DocuSys provides anesthesia information management system (AIMS), medication management system and presurgical care management system provider to help increase both the quality of care and return on investment in surgery.
