July 12, 2007 — GE Healthcare has released the latest version of Centricity Enterprise, an intelligent and integrated software suite of clinical and financial applications that is designed to improve patient care and increase collaboration between clinicians, providing a better overall healthcare environment.

Centricity Enterprise offers reportedly comprehensive capabilities that help caregivers provide safer care for patients and clinical excellence throughout their healthcare organization.

According to manufacturer, the software utilizes the user-friendly Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE), which screens every medication order for potential errors and offers point-of-care bar coding for safer medication administration. Organizations using Centricity Enterprise CPOE have reported reductions in potential adverse drug events (ADEs) by up to 75 percent.

The software provides caregivers with real-time access to a patient’s electronic records, allowing them to more closely monitor changing health conditions, document assessments more quickly and communicate seamlessly with all care providers. Time that caregivers previously spent on paperwork can now be focused on treating patients.

The software provides caregivers access to patient information across the healthcare continuum, including radiology and cardiology images and information, all right at the point of decision.

Adding to the features of Centricity Enterprise is a Web-based portal that provides patients with access to their personal information 24/7, including appointments, billing and health history.

In addition, the newest version of Centricity Enterprise is supported by the HP NonStop Itanium platform – which reportedly boasts 99.99 percent uptime, sub-second response time, and massive scalability, easily supporting thousands of simultaneous transactions and users.
