Voyager Imaging is releasing its new Web streaming technology, that is designed to provide fast delivery of images to referring doctor desktops through low to medium bandwidth connectivity.
PACS administrators can configure compression based on modality and body part, reportedly ensuring acceptable quality of images being delivered. Alternatively, the user is able to stream the full Dicom image as required.
Voyager preemptive can automatically download either specific worklists or specific examinations, allowing concurrent reporting by radiologists connected into that PACS network for true workload sharing. According to the company, the Voyager PACS method overcomes many of the limitations of a purely Web based client, where workflow efficiency can be reduced with delays with image downloading and image manipulation.
