April 21, 2011 – Frost and Sullivan has given Kjaya Medical the 2011 North American Technology Innovation Award in Web-based Medical Imaging Data Management for its VoXcell Imaging Suite. The cloud-based technology makes complete PACS, RIS, image archiving and communications functionalities—plus a full range of advanced visualization tools—accessible through a standard web browser.

For the first time, medical facilities can manage all imaging workflow throughout the enterprise and beyond using robust industry-standard applications, leading-edge 3-D processing, PET/CT analysis and more – all with on-demand anywhere, anytime Internet availability.

Kjaya was selected for the award because it enables display and sophisticated manipulation of medical images in full diagnostic resolution on any Internet-enabled PC with a record-breaking speed. To accomplish this, VoXcell draws upon the supercomputing power of the company’s cloud to process data remotely and stream visualizations to a PC without compressing, transmitting and reconstructing data locally.

The power of the system is due to its reliance on multiple graphic processing units (GPUs), the same technology that runs today’s graphic-intensive computer games. These GPUs handle large amounts of information simultaneously, making the system 100 times more powerful than other PACS servers that are typically single central processing units (CPU) based. In addition, sophisticated artificial intelligence software produces Intelligent Visualizations that stream over the Web. The result is the ability to generate and interact with 2-D, 3-D and 4-D image representations interactively with diagnostic quality over the web.

“Kjaya makes the Internet an effective medium for the viewing, processing and storing large medical image files, eliminating the physician’s need to purchase and maintain costly IT hardware and software onsite,” said Darshana De, senior research analyst for Frost and Sullivan. “VoXcell also enables users from unrelated facilities anywhere worldwide to share information across disparate IT systems. Today’s medical environment demands efficient, cost-effective workflow and VoXcell delivers the tools that can empower faster and more accurate diagnosis within an extremely affordable fee structure. It also provides a range of innovative technology for radiology department management and billing that effectively remove all barriers to adoption.”

The cloud provides scalable redundant storage for practice growth and disaster protection. While providing a full suite of image interpretation and workflow management tools, it also supports today’s focus on vendor-neutral archiving and information sharing. Set up takes minutes and requires no software download.

Frost and Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets. Industry analysts measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
