March 1, 2007 - Nuance Communication, Inc. introduced its DragonConnect in conjunction with Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical, a dictation solution created to allow healthcare providers to directly dictate into third party clinical information and electronic medical record (EMR) applications, apparently reducing the cost of transaction, improving report turnaround time and increasing overall adoption rates of clinical information systems.
Nuance also unveiled its Voice Control Healthcare Edition, a speech technology that reportedly delivers mobile access to hospital information systems from smartphones and handheld devices, giving the ability to press one button for lab results, medications or patient lists, marking the first vertically focused technology of Nuance Voice Control, a mobile search engine messaging service.
Nuance demonstrated its Dictaphone GoMD 3.6, a mobile dictation device, claiming to allow physicians to select a patient from a list, dictate a report and automatically deliver it wirelessly to the Dictaphone Enterprise Express documentation system for processing. The device includes Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 running on iPAQ 2490 and 2790 PDAs.
