October 30, 2007 - EHRConsultant, a physician advisor dedicated to the adoption of electronic health records (EHRs), announced the availability of an educational series about the integration of speech recognition software and EHRs, using videos to provide specific scenarios of speech recognition software in general and specialty use, demonstrating how providers can capture medical information more efficiently.

The videos are classified according to manufacturer and specialty. The first set of videos demonstrates the integration of Nuance's Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical speech recognition software with EHRs from vendors serving all market sizes. Specialties covered include cardiology, dermatology, emergency medicine/urgent care, family practice/internal medicine, gastroenterology, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics and pediatrics.

"The combination of EHRs and speech recognition is the most efficient way to produce patient records that are both comprehensive and comprehensible," said Eric Fishman, M.D., president of EHRConsultant. "From working closely with physicians, we determined there was a need to show - not just tell - how using speech recognition with an EHR leads to additional gains in practice efficiency. These videos are part of an initiative to provide free educational tools that are valuable resources for vendors and physicians alike."
