August 10, 2009 – The number of oncologists that anticipate adoption an electronic medical record (EMR) in the next year was around 45 percent, in study conducted by Epocrates Inc., a clinical information and decision support tools developer.
The survey, completed in April 2009, included 204 oncologists who use an iPhone or iPod Touch (37 percent); Palm smartphone (25 percent); Palm stand alone (22 percent); BlackBerry (10 percent); Windows/PPC (6 percent); Windows Smartphone (4 percent).
The study also showed that 72 percent of oncologists are more likely to use an EMR with the ability to perform some or all of these tasks via wireless mobile device (n=105).
