July 29, 2011 – Varian Medical Systems' next release of the Aria oncology information system, newly designed for greater ease of use, will be among the highlights of the company’s exhibit at the 2011 joint meeting of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) here later this week. Varian will also demonstrate SmartConnect for TrueBeam, a utility that enables secure remote servicing of a TrueBeam cancer treatment machine. Varian personnel in the exhibit hall will use SmartConnect to monitor and evaluate a TrueBeam cancer treatment system 1300 miles away in Las Vegas, N.V.

July 5, 2011 — Cancer patients in Sweden have gained access to fast and efficient radiotherapy treatments with the installation of Scandinavia's first TrueBeam system from Varian Medical Systems. This advanced system has commenced clinical treatments for patients at Vasteras Hospital, west of Stockholm.

April 19, 2011 – A new brachytherapy applicator for treating endometrial cancer patients after a hysterectomy has been introduced. The Capri applicator, from Varian Medical Systems, is aimed at increasing patient comfort and allowing clinicians to better sculpt the radiotherapy dose. It was exhibited recently at the annual American Brachytherapy Society (ABS) meeting in San Diego.
March 8, 2011 – Varian Medical Systems and ScandiDos have signed a nonexclusive distributor agreement. The agreement, which covers the ScandiDos Delta4PT pre-treatment verification system, allows Varian and its affiliates worldwide to offer it to their customers, providing additional solutions for fast and accurate verification of complex radiation therapy technologies.
