Zebra Medical Vision launched a closed beta of its Medical Imaging Research platform and announced funding of $8 million led by Khosla Ventures, with participating parties DeepFork Capital and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. Zebra's commercialization pipeline will then expedite clinical application of imaging research products.

Using state-of-the-art imaging techniques, paleontologists at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) have been examining extinct marine creatures. Quantitative analyses provide new evidence that ammonites were able to swim using their shell - very much like the recent nautilus. Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tennessee, purchased a CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System in December 2010 to develop a stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) program in its Radiation Oncology Department. The CyberKnife System included the Lung Optimized Treatment (LOT) function, which provides fiducial-free SBRT of early-stage lung cancer patients by enabling a hybrid method of spine tracking and tumor density tracking. Once the CyberKnife System was in use, the clinical team at Erlanger collaborated with referring physicians to explain to thoracic surgeons and pulmonologists — at Erlanger and other hospitals in the community — how the system could be utilized as a treatment option for their patients.
