September 14, 2016 — RapidPlan knowledge-based treatment planning software can improve quality control in radiotherapy and radiosurgery treatment plans, according to research presented at the 2016 American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). Researchers found that using the RapidPlan tool from Varian Medical Systems helped them develop plans that improved targeting of tumors and spared more healthy tissue.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) applauded members of the House Ways and Means Committee for standing against planned cuts to Medicare reimbursement for low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) lung cancer screening. According to the ACR, this exam is the first and only cost-effective test proven to significantly reduce lung cancer deaths.

September 14, 2016 — P-Cure, provider of patient-centric solutions for proton therapy, has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its patented upright imaging solution.

Medic Vision Imaging Solutions Ltd. announced last week that its vendor-independent, low-dose computed tomography (CT) solution was selected by Philips Healthcare to help meet XR-29 regulations.

September 13, 2016 — DICOM Grid, makers of a cloud-based, medical image management suite, today announced it is changing its name to Ambra Health and has secured an additional $6M in funding, led by venture firm Canaan Partners, to bring total funding to $39M.  Ambra plans to use the new funds to ramp up sales and marketing efforts and accelerate product development.
