A damaging chemical imbalance in the brain may contribute to schizophrenia, according to research presented at the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology Annual Meeting, Dec. 4-8 in Hollywood, Fla.

January 4, 2015 — At RSNA 2016, Siemens Healthineers unveiled its 510(k)-pending robot-supported Artis pheno angiography system, which was developed for use in interventional radiology, minimally invasive surgery, and interventional cardiology. In addition to possessing a zen40HDR flat panel detector and Gigalix X-ray tube for outstanding image quality,  the ARTIS pheno boasts new 2k recording technology capable of delivering 2D imaging resolution that is four times higher in all recording processes than prior Siemens Healthineers systems.

At RSNA 2016, Siemens Healthineers unveiled its groundbreaking Compressed Sensing technology, which overcomes a major limitation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): long acquisition times. With Compressed Sensing, MRI scans can be shortened dramatically. For example, cardiac cine imaging with Compressed Sensing can be performed in 16 seconds rather than the traditional four minutes, thanks to an innovative algorithm that reduces the amount of data required.2

The technology, developed in collaboration with Hitachi and others, was presented by Partho Sengupta, M.D., director of cardiac ultrasound research and core lab and an associate professor of medicine in cardiology at Mount Sinai’s Zena and Michael A.

Xario 200 Platinum Series

January 3, 2017 — Toshiba Medical introduced the Xario 200 Platinum Series ultrasound system at the 2016 annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), Nov. 27-Dec. 1 in Chicago. The Platinum Series combines the clinical benefits of high-end ultrasound technology with user-friendly features in a small footprint.
