June 27, 2017 — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and fellow Republicans announced Tuesday that a final vote on the Better Care Reconciliation Act, the upper chamber's version of Affordable Care Act (ACA) repeal-and-replace legislation, will be delayed until after the July 4 recess.

Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. announced development of a technology to retrieve similar disease cases from a computed tomography (CT) database of previously taken images. The technology, jointly developed with Fujitsu R&D Center Co. Ltd., works by retrieving similar cases of abnormal shadows expanding in a three-dimensional manner.

June 26, 2017 — Fujifilm Medical Systems U.S.A. Inc. announced that its Synapse PACS (picture archiving and communication system) line has been granted Authority to Operate (ATO) on networks in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). The announcement makes Fujifilm the first vendor with a networked medical system to attain a Risk Management Framework (RFM)-based ATO.

June 26, 2017 — A recent study appears to confirm the recommendations of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Guidelines panel against chest computed tomography (CT) scans in breast cancer patients asymptomatic for distant metastases. The study, conducted by researchers at Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, is published in the June issue of Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (JNCCN).
