October 25, 2017 — ViewRay Inc. announced outcomes data presented during the recent 2017 Annual Meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), Sept. 24-27 in San Diego. This data highlighted compelling early results using the company's magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided MRIdian radiation therapy system for the treatment of inoperable, locally advanced pancreatic cancer.

Agfa HealthCare announced that it will demonstrate its multi-purpose DR 800 X-ray room, a work in process, at the 2017 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting, Nov. 26-Dec. 1 in Chicago. The multipurpose digital radiography (DR) solution — which delivers radiography, fluoroscopy and advanced clinical applications in one single system — is enriched with Dynamic MUSICA image processing and the new X-Team Technology for viewing and communicating.

October 25, 2017 — TeraRecon announced the release of version 4.4.13 of their iNtuition software, bringing over 175 new feature and workflow enhancements to its advanced visualization platform. 

October 24, 2017 — ProTom International Holding Co. announced that it has signed a contract for the purchase and installation of a proton therapy system at the Boao Evergrande International Hospital in China's Hainan Province. ProTom will equip the hospital with its Radiance 330 Proton Therapy System three-room configuration, including two gantry-rooms and one fixed-beam room.

Philips recently announced the key findings of its research focused on the patient experience in diagnostic imaging procedures. Philips’ Patient Experience in Imaging Study surveyed 603 patients in the United States and Germany about their satisfaction, expectations, preferences and unmet needs with diagnostic imaging procedures in the past year. Patients identified trust in the referring doctor, communication, comfort, safety and getting the image right the first time as key priorities. The research provides insight into how patients perceive imaging procedures, what they value during the process, and what healthcare professionals can do to create a more patient-centered imaging experience.

October 24, 2017 — Esaote will launch Q-Spine, a technology that provides biometrics of the spine, at the North America Spine Society (NASS) annual meeting, Oct. 25–28 in Orlando, Fla. Q-Spine is a software tool to assist spine surgeons, orthopedists and chiropractors in their planning therapy and surgical procedures by means of visualization and quantification of relative biomechanical changes between weight-bearing and recumbent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) lumbar spine examination.

Scientists have devised a portable, noninvasive direct approach to image infant brain activity in a clinical setting without relying on massive scanning machines. The method has been used to monitor seizures with higher resolution than what other technologies can currently achieve. Insight about infant brain activity from the new technology could potentially pave the way to therapeutic innovations for neurological disorders.
