July 25, 2018 – Sectra will install its cloud-based, radiation dose monitoring software, Sectra DoseTrack, throughout Memorial Hermann Health System. The software will enable increased patient safety by detecting patients’ radiation exposure, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standardize all radiation dose data throughout the enterprise.

July 24, 2018 — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared a magnetic device system for guiding lymph node biopsies in patients with breast cancer undergoing mastectomy. The Magtrace and Sentimag Magnetic Localization System uses magnetic detection during sentinel lymph node biopsy procedures to identify specific lymph nodes, known as sentinel lymph nodes, for surgical removal. The FDA granted approval of the Sentimag System to Endomagnetics Inc.

July 24, 2018 — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the American College of Radiology’s (ACR) digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) quality control (QC) test procedures to enable the college to incorporate DBT into the 2016 ACR Digital Mammography Quality Control Manual.

The Aspen XDR Straight Arm Digital Radiography System is an advanced and complete digital X-ray solution with a compact design.

Endomag, the surgical guidance company, received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to extend the indication of its Magseed magnetic marker to include both the marking of soft tissue and longterm implantation. The Magseed marker has already been used in thousands of lesion localisations for breast cancer.

Siemens Healthineers debuted the FlexForce Coach performance consulting and FlexForce Tech staffing solutions, which are designed to educate and improve the workflow of radiologic and laboratory technologists. FlexForce Coach and FlexForce Tech can help a health care organization transform its delivery of care and improve the patient experience.

The use of computed tomography (CT) scans has increased dramatically over the last two decades. CT scans greatly improve diagnostic capabilities (which improve clinical outcomes) but they deliver higher radiation doses than other tests. Therefore, radiation protection is a concern, especially among children, who may receive higher radiation doses, are more susceptible to radiation-related malignancies than adults and have more time to show effects from the potential risk.

Fujifilm Medical Systems U.S.A. Inc. announced that it will offer educational opportunities and exhibit its latest innovations in digital radiography (DR), women’s health and pediatric imaging portfolio at the Association for Medical Imaging Management (AHRA) 2018 Annual Meeting and Exposition, July 22-25 in Orlando, Fla.

A new study finds The Pediatric NEXUS Head Computed Tomography (CT) Decision Instrument (DI) reliably identifies blunt trauma patients who require head CT imaging, and could significantly reduce the use of CT imaging. The findings of the study are published in the July issue of Academic Emergency Medicine, a journal of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM).
