Words We All Wanted to Hear: “RSNA is Back”

I think you could say the RSNA annual meeting is back.

I think you could say the RSNA annual meeting is back. We had 40,000 attendees, 700 companies, over 400,000 square feet of tradeshow space ... the atmosphere and the buzz was very much like 2019. So I think you can say that, that the meeting is just as it had been, and it was just very, very exciting to be there.”

These are the words of Curtis P. Langlotz, MD, PhD, current RSNA president, from Stanford University, who is this issue’s cover story. Shortly after RSNA23, Managing Editor Christine Book connected with Dr. Langlotz, who shared his time and insight on the developing role of artificial intelligence in medical imaging, along with RSNA’s top priorities for 2024. You can read more about his outlook for the future on here. Be sure to catch the full video interview with Dr. Langlotz, part of ITN’s popular One on One Video Series, here.

These sentiments were also echoed in the conversations I had during RSNA23 with attendees, presenters and exhibitors. You can tell this by looking at the numbers, which you can literally do in the revamped reintroduction of ITN’s Last Read column, which you can view here. It offers an engaging range of radiology industry insights, a snapshot of topical issues, and a venue to get to know your colleagues. Beginning this spring, ITN will send out a bi-monthly survey to our readers on a variety of topics impacting the industry. Do you have a question you want us to ask? If so, let me know at [email protected], and be sure to participate when you receive the survey in your inbox!

Additional RSNA23 Coverage

At RSNA23, it was apparent that there is a rising demand for integrated oncology solutions that combine radiation therapy with other treatment modalities such as surgery and chemotherapy. Key highlights are featured in ITN’s “Special Report: Radiation Oncology Takeaways from RSNA23.” And in the article RSNA 2023 Sets the Stage with Top Leaders in AI for Breast Imaging, learn the latest from leading experts on AI for breast imaging during a significant and standing-room-only session offered at RSNA23.

You can take a visual journey back through RSNA23 as well. The Imaging Technology News team has put together an exclusive photo gallery featuring photos of the wide range of medical imaging technologies, scientific sessions, educational courses and meeting highlights from the technical exhibit hall floor, AI Showcase, Discovery Theater and throughout session rooms at RSNA23. Be sure to take some time to look through the online gallery this month.
