April 20, 2012 — The National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded a sole source contract for a radiology information system (RIS) to Carestream Health.
The Carestream Vue RIS can improve the management of medical images by streamlining and automating a process that begins with a physician’s order for an imaging exam, includes reading by a radiologist and distributing a report with the diagnosis to clinicians and referring physicians.
Carestream’s RIS makes a patient’s radiology report accessible to authorized clinicians from any location. The Vue RIS is one of the first standalone RIS platforms to satisfy Stage 1 meaningful use requirements and is certified as an electronic medical record (EMR) module by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) for hospitals and outpatient imaging centers. Its broad functionality can eliminate the need to purchase and integrate multiple third-party systems. This flexible platform adapts to address the needs of facilities ranging in size from single-site imaging centers to large, multi-site healthcare systems.
