December 30, 2011 – Three Palm Software announced the latest upgrade to its mammography interpretation software, WorkstationOne. This new release was shown at RSNA 2011.
The new upgrade of WorkstationOne expands the bi-directional capabilities of the existing standards-based HL7 interface. This allows a radiology information system (RIS) worklist to control the viewing of mammography cases and for automatic propagation of reporting information from the workstation into the RIS.
This upgrade also expands on the tomosynthesis viewing capabilities which are seamlessly integrated into the standard mammography workflow. 3-D navigation icons visually assist navigation through each slice of a DBT volume, and the slab rendering allows the user to interactively change the compositing of multiple slices as the system cines through the stacks.
A new feature in this update is support for multi-view cross-correlation arcs, which can be used to interactively inspect suspicious regions in two or more views within one study or across current and prior studies, based on the distance of those regions from the nipple position.
Also included in this new release is support for 3MP-based 9-mega independent sub-pixel drive displays, a combination which offers customers dramatic cost savings without compromising image quality or functionality.
These new capabilities build on the existing functionality of WorkstationOne, already a full-featured breast imaging workstation with an emphasis on efficient reviewing workflow and expert viewing methodologies, such as Tabar’s systematic viewing masks.
“Three Palm Software’s digital adaptation of image masking helps you read like an expert,” said Robert Schmidt, M.D., and professor at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
WorkstationOne will also be shown on a number of partner booths at RSNA, including leading picture archive and communications systems (PACS) and full-field digital mammography (FFDM) vendors, as well as all of the major vendors of high-resolution mammography monitors.
