June 6, 2011 — Siemens Healthcare showcased its portfolio of imaging information technology (IT) and workflow management solutions at the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) 2011 annual meeting from June 2-5, 2011, in the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, Washington, D.C. Across the country, radiologists are facing increased pressure to provide faster, more accurate diagnoses for patients, higher value with greater coverage for referring physicians and simpler tools that put more information and capabilities at their fingertips — making them more productive.

The imaging IT solutions on display at SIIM include advanced visualization to help share information with colleagues and clinical partners across the healthcare enterprise; picture archiving and communications system (PACS) that converges 2-D, 3-D and 4-D imaging in one location; an enterprise radiology information system (RIS) with business intelligence, workflow management and critical results management tools; private cloud-based disaster recovery, and new mobile and Web-based image and report distribution.

Syngo.via is for advanced visualization, providing innovative and highly sophisticated 2-D, 3-D and 4-D multimodality visualization of clinical cases. It features a thin-client/server architecture, making it easier to access information anywhere, from any modality, and share that information with colleagues and clinical partners across the enterprise, enabling improved quality in patient care.

Siemens will also showcase syngo.via Web Options, which provides image access from anywhere, securely, even from outside the hospital, using:

- syngo.via WebViewer - For fast reading and excellent image-viewing capabilities, diagnostic reading of images with a Web browser and general image viewing for non-diagnostic purposes on a selection of mobile devices; and
- syngo.via WebReport - Secure, faster access to viewing of reports and images by physicians and referring physicians, accessed immediately, from anywhere. It can be launched from a Web browser or on a selection of mobile devices for non-diagnostic purposes.

As the first PACS solution from Siemens where 2-D, 3-D and 4-D reading come together in one place, syngo.plaza is intended to display, process, read, report, communicate, distribute, store, and archive digital medical images, including mammographic images.

The Siemens RIS solution, syngo Workflow, provides a paperless solution that drives the radiology workflow from order entry to report distribution. syngo Portal Radiologist, an extension of syngo Workflow, is a Web-based module that is specifically built to meet the radiologist’s daily needs, such as protocol studies, report creation based on radiological images, and reports sign-off. The solution also features syngo Portal Executive, a Web-based business intelligence tool that helps track the productivity and turnaround times of the facility's personnel and connected modalities. In order to achieve higher productivity, syngo Workflow provides task-related worklists that are based on the individual’s role within the group. With one application, a multitude of different tasks and workflow steps are covered, like critical test result management, conferencing and peer review.

Siemens Healthcare’s imaging IT solutions enable customers to achieve quality and efficiency improvements in the imaging workflow, while facilitating operational cost reductions.
