October 23, 2007 - The Breast Center of Greensboro Imaging has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR) in addition to receiving a perfect score on FDA inspection.
By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the college’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
The center also received a perfect score on their recent inspection from the FDA. The inspection is required by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), passed in 1999. In accordance with the MQSA, mammography facilities are inspected yearly.
“Achieving a perfect score on the annual inspection by the FDA is almost unheard of,” said Beth Brown, M.D., Director of The Breast Center of Greensboro Imaging. “In the past year, only one other center has also received a perfect score. We’re happy to be one of the few centers to achieve such an honor.”
