February 17, 2011 – A partnership between Brit Systems and RelWare will provide an integrated, Web-based EHR/RIS/PACS solution to hospitals, imaging clinics and large group practices.
Both Brit’s RoentgenWorks PACS/RIS and RelWare’s Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) certified EXR EHR are modular in design and based on industry standards and the latest Web-based technologies – such as Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). The joint offering allows a facility to purchase a system ONC-certified for meaningful use that takes advantage of existing departmental systems while implementing and paying for only the modules they are required to use. By maintaining existing systems, training time is also minimized for clinicians.
“Medical images are an important component of the medical record and this new integrated EHR/RIS/PACS will make images seamlessly available throughout an enterprise – wherever and whenever needed – via Brit’s browser-based and iPad application viewers,” says Shelly Fisher, president of Brit Systems. “In RelWare, we have a partner that has embraced system development in a similar manner to Brit – a Web-based, modular approach that enables facilities to implement only the tools they need to integrate medical imaging with patient records.”
“Within the hospital and clinic markets, many facilities mistakenly believe they are faced with acquiring new systems to replace existing, functioning applications to fulfill meaningful use,” said Alicia Brown, president and CEO at RelWare. “Neither RelWare nor BRIT believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach to healthcare IT. By taking a modular approach to application development, EXR and RoentgenWorks will help preserve the investment these sites have already made by integrating just the components they need to fulfill meaningful use.”
RoentgenWorks, by Brit Systems, is a next-generation, entirely browser-based, scalable RIS/PACS that is available as a pay-per-use or capital purchase. It includes a vendor neutral PACS and archive (VNA), critical results (CTRM) and ER discordance reporting and remote reading applications. EXR, RelWare’s Enterprise EHR, is ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 compliant and is certified as a Complete Inpatient EHR and a Modular Ambulatory EHR in accordance with the applicable eligible provider certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 Meaningful Use measures. Both systems support HIE NHIN Gateways.
Due to the similar architecture of RoentgenWorks and EXR, the companies say they will continue to investigate other opportunities for combining their Web-based technologies.
