December 18, 2009 - The integration of enterprise-wide image management systems with PACS is becoming increasingly prevalent and plays an important role in creating a unified, interoperable image exchange across hospital departments and to the referring physicians.
A new image acquisition and management software, Captera, supports advanced capabilities, accessible via a touch-screen-capable image acquisition and management software and its Clarity PACS version 2.0.
The enterprise-level PACS, which will be released to the public in 2010, includes features such as fully DICOM compatible hanging protocols, fully DICOM structured reporting tools and extensive administration and configuration tools to customize the system for optimal productivity.
Clarity Elements is a feature within the Clarity PACS designed to complete the PACS environment without any third-party software to bridge the EMR with PACS. Clarity Elements DICOM importer can be purchased as a standalone solution and can import DICOM or nonstandard documents and send them to Clarity PACS, allowing reconciliation of imported patient information with the Clarity archive.
Clarity RACR, a remote access and configuration tool, allows the manufacturer to remotely configure and monitor the health of each Clarity PACS system installed. The software is configured to auto-monitor the system prior to deploying it. It is monitored around the clock, informing iCRco support staff of any problems. In many cases, the company said problems are fixed before customers realize they exist.
iCRco also recently introduced iClarity, an iPhone image viewing application. With this application, a radiologist can configure an existing Clarity PACS to mirror the archive on an iPhone. This allows the radiologist to see the patient list and studies waiting to be read to decide whether the patient needs immediate attention. This first version of iClarity features search and sort options, zoom, pan and window level functions. iClarity will be available at the iTunes store in the first quarter or 2010 with additional annotation tools and reporting functions.
