October 12, 2009 - Agfa HealthCare has integrated Nuance’s Critical Test Result Management (CTRM) solution, Veriphy, into IMPAX for the Canadian market.

A market leader in CTRM solutions, Nuance’s Veriphy software is now available as an integrated offering with Agfa HealthCare’s IMPAX, providing physicians improved, closed-loop processes for critical test result distribution and notification using a variety of methods, including mobile devices.

Veriphy provides the methodology and supporting technology to develop, implement and continuously improve the communication of patient critical test results within a hospital and across multiple departments and hospital sites. The CTRM solution features:
· Instant and Secure Message Delivery – enables notification of an available critical test result message to be sent instantly from the reporting clinician to the responsible ordering clinician via cell phone, pager, email or text, using a secure PIN for remote audio access.
· Immediate Alerts – indicates the severity of patient critical test results; continues to send notifications; and redirects messages to a back-up contact until the information is received by someone responsible for patient care.
· Automatic Tracking – messages are tracked and auditable, summarizing when they are sent and received to increase the speed of communication between healthcare workers.

Agfa HealthCare’s optimized IMPAX solution creates a user-friendly interface for reporting physicians to work from – offering the ability to report and communicate critical patient findings quickly and easily. With a single push of a button, physicians can launch Veriphy, auto-populate vital patient demographic information and record the critical findings to the ordering physician. This increases the speed of communication between care providers and offers a more comprehensive view of the patient situation. Implementation of this optimized IMPAX solution eliminates the need for reporting physicians to track down ordering physicians to ensure delivery of results, as these are automatically notified when the message is received. Failure to pick up a message begins an automated escalation process that ensures important information is not missed.

Veriphy enables healthcare provider organizations to improve the way patients’ critical test results are communicated. It presently is the only end-to-end healthcare enterprise solution that automatically tracks provider-to-provider shared patient messages, indicates the severity of patients’ findings and through its notification and message delivery process, and does not “close the communication loop” until message receipt is verified by an authorized caregiver.
