September 22, 2009 - Merge Healthcare will speak on the future of electronic data capture (EDC) software from 8-9:15 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 6, in a speech titled “So you think you know EDC?” given at the 2009 Society for Clinical Data Management (SCDM) Conference in Seattle, Wash.
Christine Lys, M.S., director of eClinical solutions, Merge, will demonstrate the company's latest eClinical solutions at the show. Merge will also be exhibiting its latest eClinical capabilities, including its new all-access Web portal, which creates one point of access for the management of clinical trials data. The new data exports on demand tool and PowerReports ad hoc reporting tool will also be on display, joining the established etrials EDC, IVR/IWR and eDiary product line. Merge can be found at booth 203.
The SCDM conference focuses on the preparation needed by the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries to meet the needs of new and emerging healthcare delivery models, such as incentives set forth in the U.S. HITECH Act for computerizing the process of creating and maintaining medical records. Contributing to this discussion, Lys will discuss changes to the clinical trial management landscape and practical methods for data managers to optimally utilize EDC capabilities when managing and conducting data transfers, reporting and tracking during clinical trials. Lys will discuss real-world examples of methods used by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in integrating disparate clinical trial data into a single EDC database that resulted in enhanced patient safety, greater accuracy, increased efficiencies and lower costs.
