April 15, 2009 – IASIS Healthcare LLC, a 16-hospital system headquartered in Franklin, TN, plans to help improve patient care and physician satisfaction with the deployment of a new PACS from McKesson.

IASIS serves approximately 2,700 beds across six regions throughout the U.S. IASIS expects to experience significant workflow advantages by making the move to Horizon Medical Imaging PACS, which gives time-crunched physicians easy access to medical images as part of the electronic health record. As a result, hospital clinicians will be able to spend less time locating information and more time on clinical activities and patient care.

“Investing in imaging technology is central to our mission of improving care for the diverse patient population we serve,” said Sandra McRee, president and chief operating officer at IASIS. “As the complexity of our system has grown, we have realized that we need a partner that appreciates the missioncritical nature of our business and can provide 24/7 support. McKesson is that kind of partner for us, providing real-time service, supporting our evolving needs and bringing innovative solutions to marketplace.”

IASIS understands the importance of an enterprise-imaging platform to its healthcare IT strategy. For the first time, IASIS physicians will have enterprise-wide, secure access to a more complete view of their patients’ records, wherever and whenever they need it: in the office, at the bedside or at home. From a single workstation in any of these locations, physicians will be able to evaluate patients and make more well-informed treatment decisions, further improving patient care.

“We expect the McKesson solution to greatly increase satisfaction and productivity,” added McRee. “Not only will our radiologists benefit from the improved toolset and individual workflow capabilities, but our referring physicians should be able to make faster and more well-informed care decisions with immediate access to patient information.”
