September 5, 2005 - RamSoft just unveiled its latest Web-based mammography PACS tools designed to streamline and automate repetitive day-to-day user tasks, the company announced at the 28th Annual Breast Imaging Conference.

In response to its customers, RamSoft developed a suite of mammography enhancements specific to its customers’ needs, while bolstering the PowerServer.

The newest core mammography features include: a multimodality breast workstation; a study router and prefetch feature; CAD image overlays; and an auto layout and matching tool.

PowerServer’s PowerReader workstation supports breast MRI, mammography and ultrasound reading from a single client and interface; which reportedly allows radiologists to have their breast MRIs, ultrasound and mammography images open at the same time. This simplifies workflow and eliminates the need to work with multiple workstations.

The routing and prefetching mechanism is flexible and lets the user organize route studies by status, modality, faculty, physicians, times, dates, AE title and many other DICOM tags.

PowerServer’s CAD image overlays work with reportedly any CAD package that conforms to DICOM CAD specifications, including Hologic and iCAD. The overlays display both calcification clusters and mass/density in tissue via polygon and ellipse markers.

The mammography viewing module is said to automatically sort the left and right digital image series and match them to any relevant priors stored in the system for easy comparison. In addition, all the popular vertical and horizontal compare modes are supported to enable customization and enhance ease of use.

The mammography-specific image management and reporting tools, which are typically only found on a dedicated workstation, are available online using the web-based PowerReader clinical workstation.

In addition to HL7, DICOM and IHE conformance, the PowerReader workstation software is also FDA approved to assure its safety, reliability and efficacy in a mission-critical facility.
