May 27, 2008 - Varian Medical Systems and Still River Systems entered into a partnership to develop an interface between Varian's ARIA Oncology Information System and Still River's Monarch250 Proton Beam Radiotherapy (PBRT) System, to allow cancer centers to integrate proton therapy within their existing radiation therapy practices.
The ARIA Oncology Information Management System is a comprehensive real-time management system and database product for operating filmless and paperless cancer clinics that offer radiation therapy, chemotherapy and/or surgery. This software product integrates image processing and treatment machine controls for various types of radiotherapy, including advanced forms of image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).
ARIA can be utilized to manage comprehensive cancer treatment centers, as well as standalone radiation oncology or medical oncology departments. It incorporates a set of medical oncology tools for managing chemotherapy treatment regimens.
Any new ARIA interface that facilitates record and verify functions with new radiotherapy delivery technologies are subject to 510(k) clearance by the FDA, and would need such clearance prior to any clinical deployment.
