February 26, 2008 – Siemens Healthcare introduced at HIMSS 2008 the general availability of Soarian Quality Measures, a healthcare data-mining tool designed to provide automated chart abstraction of quality measures, as defined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission.
The system, powered by the patented, REMIND (Reliable Extraction and Meaningful Inference from Non-structured Data) Platform reportedly analyzes and draws conclusions from all available electronic patient data from both Siemens and non-Siemens information technology systems, including structured data, such as demographics and financial information, and unstructured free text found in clinical notes and transcribed reports. Results are then presented in an interface allowing the abstractor to review and validate.
