June 5, 2007 - Royal Philips Electronics highlighted at SNM its Gemini TF PET/CT system with time-of-flight imaging and the new BrightView SPECT with the BodyGuard feature, as part of its nuclear medicine portfolio.
Gemini TF PET/CT system with time-of-flight imaging bosted 30 installation worldwide and demonstrated its capacity to imprve image quality, reduce dose, speed up scan times and image across a wide range of patient sizes.
BrightView SPECT, which was first debuted at RSNA and was presented at SNM as commercially available, highlighted the effectiveness of the BodyGuard. The feature automatically contours to the patient, using a customizable scan distance preset by the operator. Images are further enhanced by Philips’ CloseUp technology, which offers reportedly higher resolution through its software and minimal distance between the detector and the patient.
Other highlights included Philips’ PET/CT Pulmonary Toolkit, which uses respiratory monitoring technology designed to improve the diagnostic accuracy of PET/CT scans. Respiratory correlated imaging applied to PET is intended to improve the accuracy of PET attenuation correction and SUV calculations for more precise localization of tumors.
The company also announced that it has extended it PET/CT Viewer to the Philips iSite PACS environment, along with introducing the latest release of version 1. 5. PET/CT Viewer for iSite PACS supports fused viewing of PET, CT, MR and 3-D SPECT and is available on iSite Radiology. PET/CT Viewer version 1.5 includes workflow and performance enhancements such as a volume SUV robe,, fused MIP, 4-D fusion and faster image load.
