May 20, 2010 - Seven advanced visualization systems companies competed at the annual “Workstation Challenge” held at the 2010 International Symposium on Multidetector Row CT (ISCT) held in San Francisco, Calif.

TeraRecon Inc. took the occasion to announce the availability iNtuition Cloud, the company's new software as a service (SaaS) form. For evaluation purposes, the solution is accessible online to registered users, at the ISCT.

Hosted by course organizer Geoffrey Rubin, M.D., of Stanford University Medical Center, the participants were asked to present three different challenging computed tomography (CT) review cases in under 4 minutes each.

The vendors performed reviews of CT colonography, cardiac CT and evaluation of hepatic cancer, using their applications of advanced visualization, analysis and quantification tools. The assigned tasks included diagnostic interpretation, quantitative imaging, and distribution/communication of results to referring physicians.

Dr. Christopher Herzog, chief of radiology at the Red Cross Clinic in Munich, Germany, presented Terarecon's technology at the face-off leveraged. He showed its fully-featured thin-client / server-based rendering solution. Herzog also demonstrated the functionality of the iNtuition Zero-footprint web distribution of results, including interactive 3-D review on the iPad iNtuition Cloud.

Herzog commented on the iNtuition Cloud technology and distribution of interactive results through mobile devices such as the iPad.

"This convenience of everywhere access to a limitless advanced visualization resource, without restriction of the toolset available to the physician, unlocks great potential for imaging practices everywhere,” he said.
