Hitachi’s HI VISION 5500 ultrasound system, found in Radiology departments and diagnostic imaging centers, can also be configured to apply its high resolution imaging to prostate Brachytherapy planning and guidance. The system’s reportedly advanced imaging features work in concert with its bi-plane Brachytherapy probe to create detailed images of the prostate.
The system’s U533 Brachytherapy probe offers a 200-degree wide field-of-view which allows closer positioning to the prostate so that the benefits of 10 MHz high frequency imaging can be realized, according to the company. The 5500 offers a DICOM-compliant environment including an optional Query/Retrieve function that enables previously acquired images from any modality to be retrieved from PACS and viewed directly on the ultrasound unit for reference. In addition to its digital networking capabilities, the 5500 features a variety of high quality video outputs for simple connection to radiation planning systems.
