November 15, 2007 - TomoTherapy Inc. announced that Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, England has begun treating cancer patients with the TomoTherapy Hi-Art system, reportedly the first National Health Service (NHS)-affiliated institution to install the system.
The TomoTherapy Hi-Art system provides a solution that uses a CT scanner-based design to deliver image-guided, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IG/IMRT) from all angles around the patient. The treatment system is an advanced radiation therapy system for the treatment of a wide variety of cancers, and combines integrated CT imaging with conformal radiation therapy to deliver sophisticated radiation treatments with speed and precision while reducing radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.
