April 8, 2016 — Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. has received authorization to operate (ATO) with the U.S. Air Force for its Aplio Platinum Series ultrasound systems. Toshiba has previously secured Air Force ATO for its computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR) and cardiovascular X-ray portfolios, as cybersecurity becomes a growing concern for hospitals that are increasingly connected through online networks.
By receiving ATO status, Toshiba’s Aplio 500 Platinum and Aplio 300 Platinum ultrasound systems have met the Air Force and Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) Platform Information Technology (PIT) guidelines for ensuring protection of patient health information (PHI) and guarding against malware, viruses and malicious software. To meet these guidelines, Toshiba enhanced its Aplio Platinum Series ultrasound platform to include Microsoft Windows 7 and application whitelisting security software to proactively identify and prevent viruses and malicious solicitations.
