December 7, 2011 — At the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2011 annual meeting, Sony Electronics announced its entry into the radiology flat panel display space.
The company recently introduced the world’s first medical-grade surgical monitor, the PVM-2551MD (pending 510(k) clearance). The new monitor uses the company’s OLED technology, which produces high-quality, high-contrast output and delivers a wide color gamut. It also provides a much quicker response time than LCD, enabling it to display quick motion of images, such as in ultrasound, with virtually no motion blur. Using Sony’s Trimaster EL technology, the OLED monitor is capable of reproducing pure black, faithful to the source signal.
During RSNA, Sony will showcase its line-up of radiology monitors including:
- 5MP Diagnostic Display for Mammography
- 3MP Color Display, 3MP Grayscale Display
- 2MP Color Display, 2MP Grayscale Display
All three devices are targeted for release in early spring 2012.
