February 11, 2008 - RF Technologies will demonstrate its PinPoint Peer-to-Peer Wi-Fi RTLS asset tracking tag at HIMSS 2008 in Orlando, FL.
The battery-based Wi-Fi tags can be deployed as asset tags or reference tags. This means facilities that already have a Wi-Fi Infrastructure in place can use the reference tags to save time and money, the company said. Reference tags form a peer-to-peer network and enable asset tags to use signal strength (RSSI) and time of flight (TOF) to determine their location, and also, if needed, pass on the information about asset tags to the access point, the company said. This enables a facility to extend the Wi-Fi RTLS with high accuracy into areas that may not have robust or any WLAN coverage, without the expense and man-hours associated with adding costly access points.
The PinPoint RTLS Platform provides APIs and northbound interfaces that enable ERP applications to integrate RTLS information, facilitating process enhancements, the company said. The PinPoint RTLS Platform also provides flexible reporting functions as well as Web-based portals at computers or on PDAs.
