iPlan Flow software facilitates targeted drug delivery to specific areas of the brain which, according to BrainLAB, can make the process considerably safer and more effective.
This software was developed to treat neurodegenerative diseases, which make drug delivery to the brain difficult because of the blood brain barrier (BBB). To complete the delivery, a computer uses MRI to render an individual 3-D map of the patient’s brain. This map then calculates the distribution patterns of the medication. With this information, the doctor can now preoperatively identify the location that the medication needs to be delivered to.
