February 11, 2008 – Philips launched the Digital Starter Kit 9397, combining digital dictation technology with transcription software and accessories, such as the Philips Digital Pocket Memo 9370, Philips SpeechExec software and the recently released USB Foot Control 2330.
The Philips Digital Pocket Memo 9370 is a handheld recorder featuring push buttons for single-handed use, ”smart buttons” and a large backlit LCD for viewing information such as author name, file name and length of dictation. Ready to use interchangeable Secure Digital (SD)/Multimedia cards, the recorder is said to offer virtually unlimited recording capacity and excellent sound quality based on the .dss file format.
Users can manage transcription jobs by displaying all relevant information, including priority settings, transcription status, etc., using the Philips SpeechExec software. Files are processed and can be automatically transferred via an organization’s network.
The USB the Foot Control 2330 includes stop and start dictations with a slight movement of the heel, which reduces strain, increases efficiency and works to improve the transcription workflow. A fourth pedal for finishing a transcription job and individually programmable controls is also included.
