March 31, 2008 – Toshiba brought to ACC its Advanced Image Processing (AIP) technology for its Infinix X-ray product line, created to help users better visualize even the smallest interventional devices, featuring a programmable image display that reportedly gives clinicians the ability to optimize image viewing based on clinical preferences.

AIP aims to provide reduced background noise for fluoroscopic and digital acquisition imaging, this new processing is designed to compress background noise and enable physicians to better see vasculature and cardiac devices. AIP also works to enhance contrast, improving the ability to see vessels and devices without increasing the overall image noise. Combined with high resolution flat panel detectors AIP allows vessels near dense anatomical areas to be seen more easily, and the technology is said to significantly reduce the blurring effect that may occur in areas of high contrast.

Showcased along with the Advanced Image Processing is the Infinix VF-i/SP X-ray system, a new floor-mounted, single plane system with a multi-axis positioner boasting versatile movement. This universal cardiovascular system is designed to accommodate diagnostic and interventional procedures, featuring a high-resolution, 12-by-16-inch flat panel.
