October 1, 2007 - Merlyn Medical received FDA approval (510K) for FlexWarmer, a portable fluid warmer that requires neither battery nor electric power.
The new product will be launched at the 2007 EMS Expo in Orlando, FL, Oct. 11-13 and the Anesthesiology Society of America Conference in San Francisco Oct. 14-17.
“This lightweight, compact device was designed for emergency transportation vehicles, field use, rescue, or other applications where power is not available,” said Jay Kotin, Merlyn president. “Heat is generated in about two minutes by simply activating a reusable, nontoxic heating pack, which lasts about one hour.”
For more time, Kotin said the user can just insert another heating pack.
FlexWarmer was designed and produced in Japan by Elltec Co. Ltd. Merlyn Medical has been appointed worldwide FlexWarmer distributor in an agreement with Elltec and Suzuken Co. Ltd.
