August 20, 2008 - Compressus installed its MEDxConnect suite of products supporting and enhancing the services of PennData LLC., a teleradiology company based in the Houston area, improving PennData's efficiency and report to turnaround by 600 percent, according to PennData’s radiologists.
PennData’s business plan required the full integration of the internal and external data and workflow at Green Oak Diagnostics in Humble, TX and the Hillcroft Medical Clinic Association sites in Houston and Sugarland, TX. This integration enabled its five board certified radiologists to process the 50,000 diagnostic studies per year.
“No other vendor was able to come close to connecting seamlessly the 12 modalities, two PACS, four printers, two RIS, and three locations,” said Jeremy Taylor, manager of PennData. “We were also amazed at the unbelievable speed and accuracy with which MEDxConnect was able to route and move our huge cross-sectional studies across the Internet. We are now able to balance our workload across the whole system, to read from a single worklist and to deliver reports in minutes instead of hours.”
“The efficient routing and speed has greatly increased our subspecialty capability enabling us to handle more capacity and provide a strong foundation to accommodate increased volumes and our expanding business,” said H. Burt Spangler, M.D. radiologist and medical director at Green Oak Diagnostics. “Risks to patient safety associated with the deficiencies of interoperability and interconnectivity were always looming over us. Those risks are now behind us as all equipment is flawlessly connected.”
The MEDxConnect System acts as a communications hub, enabling all PACS, HIS, RIS and other data information systems to connect and communicate across an enterprise. MEDxConnect also reportedly enhances and expedites the use of HL7, DICOM and other standard languages to connect all of the otherwise independent and disparate systems and successfully transferring images, reports, messages, demographics and other important data for the timely diagnosis and treatment of a waiting patient.
The integrated imaging and data management solution from Compressus is designed to support a facility's current and expanded workload and provide an infrastructure for sustained growth. Building the functionality required for remote connectivity, the system enables users to access diagnostic images and reports in the existing data stores at each facility, increasing the level of medical care while reducing the associated costs.
