Integra Neuro Sciences introduced the LimiTorr in the spring of 2008, which the company says is one of the first volume limiting CFS drainage systems on the market.
The device is designed to prevent over drainage. This is especially important during drainage of the lateral ventricles of the brain or lumbar subarachnoid space. When the end volume is reached (20 or 30 mL), the flow shuts off using burette technology. When the burette is emptied, drainage can resume.
The device includes an antimicrobial hydrophobic filter, which allows venting even when wet. The tubes have needless sampling sites.
