February 21, 2007 – InSightec’s ExAblate 2000, a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) focused ultrasound device that treats uterine fibroid tumors, is now allowing most patients to find relief within three months of treatment and to return to work within days.
The ExAblate 2000 uses a combination of ultrasound waves and MRIs to image, treat and ablate soft tissue. Treatment typically takes about three or four hours.
