February 28, 2008 - InSite One Inc. presented at HIMSS 2008 new features for their InDex 5.0 suite of services for DICOM and non-DICOM data, which are designed to enhance performance, accessibility, compatibility and security to fine-tune services in support of market trends in technology.
InDex tools for long-term storage and archive requirements for DICOM and non-DICOM objects for the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) include patient-centric object libraries and clinical information lifecycle management in a digital framework. Working within the IHE and its XDS-I definitions, the service is said to provide for long-term storage of fixed data and protection for variable content file types.
Among the many developments is JPEG 2000 support allowing for compatibility and improved performance with third-party view stations; a reportedly enhanced transport layer that increases bandwidth utilization and reduces the effects of network lateny; and Rapid Recovery capabilities for faster Return to Operations (RTO).
