A Piedmont Physicians Group practice (PPG) was named the 2006 recipient of the Nicholas E. Davies Ambulatory Care Award for its use of electronic medical records (EMR) to improve patient care on Tuesday.
The national Davies Award given by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annually honors healthcare organizations in three categories – including ambulatory care – for excellence in the implementation of health information technology.
“This award is a testament to the commitment of our physicians and staff to utilizing information technology to make healthcare delivery safer and more efficient,” said R. Timothy Stack, president and CEO of Piedmont Healthcare. “We recognize the power of the electronic medical record system to improve overall quality, safety and patient experience.”
