June 12, 2008 - Biospace med said New Jersey Spine Group is the first healthcare facility in the U.S. to install the EOS X-ray imager, reportedly the first ultra-low-dose X-ray technology, capturing head-to-toe images of patients with up to 10 times less radiation than a conventional X-ray and up to 1000 times less than a CT (Computed Tomography) scan.
This installation took place just after the introduction of a resolution earlier this month in the U.S. House of Representatives, “H. Res. 1216”, which proposes to reduce radiation dosages used in the imaging of children.
The X-ray imager allows full-body imaging of patients in a weight-bearing position that enables global assessment of balance and posture. EOS is a total solution now available in the U.S. since receiving FDA 510(k) clearance.
